| The largest Borough measuring 12.85 square kilometres it lies an the western side of the island with an altitude of 788 meters above sea level in some places.
Countryside: The whole district alternates between quiet peaceful zones and chaotic hectic areas, hot beaches and cool hills. Its life-style is reflected in its architecture, mainly 1600-1800's, narrow streets and winding alleys, watchtowers and many churches, rich in precious frescoes and neo- classic domes.
Enviroment: The district of Forio consists of almost all the western side of the island and some slopes of Mount Epomeo. The marin center and the delightful white Church of Soccorso are near the sea between two promonotories Zaro and Caruso: there are lots of mittle coves and bays dotted around the coastline with some impressive and interesting rock formations. |
